Rensselaer County property tax appeals

Appeal Season is a property tax appeal co-pilot. We are live across Florida and expanding to high-tax counties like Rensselaer County. We are not there yet, so we cannot check a New York assessment today. Leave your email and we will tell you the day we cover Rensselaer County, and nothing else.

HOW NEW YORK APPEALS WORK

In New York, you contest your assessment by filing Form RP-524 with your city or town assessor or Board of Assessment Review. In most communities the deadline, called Grievance Day, is the fourth Tuesday in May, but many assessing units set their own date, so confirm yours. New York City and Nassau County run their own systems on earlier winter deadlines. If the Board of Assessment Review does not lower your assessment, owners of one, two, or three family homes can bring a Small Claims Assessment Review, or SCAR, petition within thirty days of the final assessment roll.

HOW THE DEADLINE WORKS HERE

In most New York communities, Grievance Day, the deadline to file a complaint on your assessment with the Board of Assessment Review, is the fourth Tuesday in May. Some assessing units set their own date, so confirm yours with your assessor.
