In California, assessment appeals are filed with your county’s assessment appeals board. The regular filing period opens July 2 each year and closes on September 15 or November 30 depending on the county, per the list the State Board of Equalization publishes annually. Filing fees vary by county, and many counties also offer an informal decline in value review with the assessor.
